the title says it all. And the price here is really great also. I paid about 20 dollars more than this in a retail store, though i didnt have to pay shipping so the real difference is probably about 10 or 15 dollars. A little heavy on the wrist compared to other watches i have had but not enough to be a problem. Also the band is really long for the big men. I am a large fellow and i thought it might not fit me that well, but the store clerk actually had to take out three links for it to fit properly and it is still just loose enough to be comfortable.

In general I agree with just about everything the other users have said.

I replaced a twenty year old Casio with this watch just over one year ago.

I wanted the SS band, not a flimsy plastic one. I like all the functions. I agree with the other users who wish it had a countdown timer - my old Casio did. One other minor thing - my old watch would beep once on the half-hour and twice on the hour, I wish this one could do that also.

Initially I thought there were problems with this watch. As it turned out, I had misinterpreted the instructions.

One WARNING: This watch takes a long time to store up a full battery charge - especially in November when the sky is always overcast. I charged mine up under a 100W compact fluorescent bulb - six inches away for two nights. Once that was done, it has maintained a full charge from just normal light. Furthermore, the automatic (motion activated) back-light eats a lot of power - I turned it off and just use the button.

This price seems excellent - When I bought mine in October of 2004 the best price I could find was $120.

The watch has a setting that makes it turn on when placed at a certain angle at night. You can turn it off. This is clearly stated in the manual. This is a feature not a malfunction.
a great replacement g       Product Reviews

i've had my old (g-lide model with pull out straps) g for 5+ years and i've put it through the shredder...wore it every single time i was doing some kind of a physical activity - snowboarding, surfing, skydiving, hiking, mt biking, lifting weights, not to mention to time my runs and swim laps. however about a month ago the display was getting dim and the EL not working so well, so i took it to a neighborhood jeweler who changed the battery. bad decision. i guess when he was changing the battery, he didn't close the case tightly enough or just messed with the integrity of water-resistant mechamism. either way when i went swimming later, water got in and just killed it. T.T (that's me crying).

so when after about couple weeks of mourning and not being able to time my runs as accurately, i decided i needed to get another watch with stop-watch function and one that will be as tough as my old g and hopefully last longer too. looking around at different sports watches out there (nike and timex ironman), i came to a conclusion that nothing will be as durable as g-shocks.

i chose this watch for several reasons. first, it's a g. that pretty much assures that i'll be getting a tough as a rock (literally) watch that will last through all the beatings. secondly, i wanted a watch that i wouldn't have to change the batteries for. and this watch is solar-powered. granted that at some point in time i would have to replace this solar battery, but that wouldn't be any time soon. also it's an "atomic" watch meaning that it gets radio signals that will keep the time extremely accurate (not that this was a necessity on my list, but it still cool nevertheless). and it just looked real nice.

the little qualms i have - 1. it's a little heavy. from the pic it looked like rubber band, but actually it was a stainless steel strap. and the strap is soooooooo big. i had to take out 6 links to make it fit my wrist (granted i have small wrist). 2. it doesn't have a count-down timer. it's got 6 alarms, but it doesn't have a count-down timer. 3. the buttons are kinda hard to push. compared to my old and the classic g's the buttons on this watch are small. 4. it's a little too pretty for me to be wearing as my beat-around watch. i dunno if i'll take this mt biking any time soon

btw, the retail on this watch is $150. but if you shop around online, yur find it at a much discounted price. i got it for $79 from famous brand watches (?) via amazon.
